McCarter attends Clay by the Bay finale at East Bay Raceway Park

Swapping out motors for the weekend, Pierce McCarter returned to Crate Racin' USA competition on Thursday afternoon at East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Fla.) for the first night of the Clay by the Bay.

Drawing 91 Late Models for the event, McCarter qualified sixth-quickest in his group before falling backwards to 16th in the first 25-lap preliminary feature.

Hoping for better luck in Friday's prelim events, Pierce once again put down the sixth-fastest lap in his qualifying group before recording a ninth-place finish his feature.

Being buried in a B-Main, Pierce and his team decided to head home early.
