Pierce McCarter earns eighth-place finish in Gator Championship at Volusia

Knocking off the rust during the first weekend of DIRTcar UMP Modified action, Pierce McCarter locked in on Monday evening as the week-long event kicked off at Volusia Speedway Park (De Leon Springs, Fla.) for the DIRTcar Nationals.

With just under 100 Modifieds on hand, McCarter finished runner-up in his first preliminary feature and then ran third and fourth the following two nights. Thursday's race was rained out and Pierce wound up fifth in a feature on Friday.

McCarter started 28th in the finale on Saturday evening and stormed forward 20 positions to land inside the Top-10 in eighth.
